Whether you’re building strength and stamina, chasing an adrenaline boost from cardio, or just searching for zen in a hectic world, Singapore Sports Hub’s new series of the Experience Sports Sessions are a great way to sample different workout routines, as well as refresh your mind and body.
The slate of free activities focuses on five core aspects of fitness: Strength, Endurance, Flexibility, Cardio and Zen. From high-octane dance to calming yoga and more, there’s something for everyone, whatever your fitness level or age.
INTERNATIONAL REMIX – DANCE STORM
When: Every Monday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: Get into the groove with high-energy hits! This dance-based aerobics workout is designed to burn fat while you move to the rhythm of your favourite tracks. If you want to sing along, no one’s stopping you.
HATHA YOGA
When: Every Monday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: Sports Hub Lawn Bowls
What: Get into position and inhale with Hatha Yoga’s series of physical postures and breathing techniques. With holds and moves carried out at a relaxing pace, this is an ideal beginners’ introduction to the calming world of yoga.
BOOT CAMP
When: Every Tuesday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: Stadium Roar
What: You don’t have to be fighting fit to join this boot camp. Anyone can try circuit training that features strength-based exercises targeting the full body. Equipment such as dumbbells, sandbells and battling ropes will be provided during the sessions.
VINYASA FLOW
When: Every Wednesday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: Sports Hub Lawn Bowls
What: Find your inner zen with Vinyasa Flow, which sees participants moving seamlessly from one yoga posture to another while breathing intentionally. The low-intensity workout offers cardio benefits and a chance to relax and go with the flow.
FIGHT-DO®
When: Every Wednesday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: If you fancy yourself the next Bruce Lee, or just enjoy playing a martial arts hero, Fight-Do® is right up your alley with its high-octane workout featuring punches, kicks, blocks and jumps – everything you need to fight off the fat.
TABATA MANIA
When: Every Thursday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: Stadium Roar
What: Increase muscular strength and cardiovascular health with Tabata Mania’s full-body training routine. It is based on the simple equation of 20 seconds work and 10 seconds rest over eight rounds — which adds to four minutes of exercise. Feel free to leave the mathematical calculations to the instructors.
HIIT YOGA
When: Every Friday, 7pm to 8pm
Where: Sports Hub Lawn Bowls
What: Can’t decide between doing cardio or relaxing routines? Get the best of both worlds with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) Yoga, which combines full-body, heart-pumping flows of fast action with slow-flow stretches that will ease muscular tension. Two different exercises, one great workout.
K-KARDIO
When: Every Saturday, 8.30am to 9.30am
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: Short for Korean Pop Cardio Dance workout, K-Kardio is every K-pop fan’s dream workout. Show off your superstar stance, as you perform simple dance steps that combine the different moods, styles and movements that make K-Pop such a worldwide phenomenon.
STRONG BY ZUMBA™
When: Every Saturday, 10am to 11am
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: Another HIIT-oriented session, Strong by Zumba™ infuses boot camp-style choreography with music to create a full-body workout that builds in intensity over the session’s duration. Think burpees, push-ups and high-impact moves that will strengthen muscles and challenge your ability to stay in sync with the beat.
INTERNATIONAL REMIX – CARDIO ROCKS
When: Every Sunday, 8.30am to 9.30am
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: Sunday at Sports Hub is where the exercise party’s at. Start your morning on the right note with this dance-based aerobics workout paired with hit songs, for a cardio-focused session that will leave you energised for the rest of the day.
FIT BLAST
When: Every Sunday, 10am to 11am
Where: 100PLUS Promenade, Gate 2
What: This combination of dance fitness and cardio exercise is fun for everyone. Bring along the kids and grandparents for an all-ages workout session that will soon become your new favourite weekend routine with the family.
