Maybe you’ve decided that it’s time to get fit – but it’s hard to know where to start, especially if the thought of working out alone doesn’t seem appealing. Should you sign up for a class package? Explore gym subscriptions? Pay for a personal trainer?

There’s a better option: the free hour-long Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions at Singapore Sports Hub. Whether you’re looking to achieve internal harmony with yoga or to get your adrenaline pumping with a cardio workout, you’ll have fun working out alongside others on the shared quest for personal wellness.

Read on for more on why you should take part in Singapore Sports Hub’s Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions.

There is a fitness activity to choose from every day of the week, and admission is free.

#1: It’s free
Free as in no charge, entirely complimentary, no payment needed.

Besides saving you money, the Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions provide a variety of options — perfect if you haven’t quite figured out your workout preferences. For example, if you’ve always wanted to try dance fitness but don’t want to feel pressured into signing up for a class package, the Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions will fit the bill. Who knows, you might discover a new lifelong passion — or at least have a fun, novel experience without feeling the pinch.

#2: Meet new friends
If the pandemic had a big impact on your social life, it’s time to get out and get fit with new friends.

Chances are that if you’ve found a session you enjoy, the people exercising around you would have similar preferences — a good start for bonding. After all, making friends while doing cardio benefits your heart in more ways than one: studies have shown that being part of a supportive network of friends can protect against mental illnesses and increase well-being.

You get to exercise as a group and meet new people.

#3: Stay motivated by working out in a group
Worried that you’ll lose the motivation to keep up with your fitness routine? According to research, exercising in a group can benefit our health, as we tend to mimic the fitness habits of those around us. Another study found that spending more time with friends who exercise can increase our commitment to a fitness routine than if we worked out alone.

So if you’ve never managed to commit to a long-term fitness routine, the communal nature of the Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions might just be the key to successful change.

#4: Different exercises to suit your needs
Think of the Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions as a buffet of exercise choices. Had a hard week at work? Wind down with some calming yoga on Wednesday evening. Want to start the week right with an energising burst of physical activity? Tuesday night’s strength training workout will leave you ready to take on the world.

Each session type targets a different aspect of fitness, so you can customise your exercise routine to your own needs. Build your stamina with a session centred on endurance training or hone your moves (and your heart fitness) with a dance workout.

You do not have to reorganise your work schedule, as activities are held in the evenings, with morning sessions included in the weekends as well.

#5: Planned to fit your busy schedule
With morning, evening and weekend sessions to pick from, there’s no need to reorganise your hectic lifestyle to include staying active.

Early birds can look forward to a dance party on Sunday, while those who prefer a post-work workout will enjoy the various sessions available on weekdays between 7pm to 8pm. Whether you choose to train your endurance or sweat off the stress with a gruelling round of boot camp, you’ll be home in time for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

A bonus recovery boost
From now until 31 July 2022, participants of the Daily Free Experience Sports Sessions can enjoy a complimentary OMRON Recovery Session, which uses Transcutaneous Electronic Nerve Stimulation (TENS) technology to reduce fatigue and pain, as well as relief muscle soreness.

The OMRON Recovery Session is available at Gate 19 on Saturdays and Gate 3 on Sundays after the following activities:

  • Saturday, 8am to 9am: Health Qigong, 100PLUS Promenade Gate 18
  • Sunday, 8am to 9am: SuperFit Sunrise Yoga Wellness, 100PLUS Promenade Gate 18
  • Sunday, 9am to 10am: Cardio Blast, 100PLUS Promenade Gate 2
