The physical benefits of children taking part in organised sports or any form of rigorous activity are obvious: they get to stay active and keep healthy, and at the same time, expend the boundless energy they all seem to have. Any parent who’s ever spent a rowdy day out at the pool or the park with their little ones would be more than familiar with the peace and quiet at home that comes after that.
But beyond the heart-healthy reasons, letting your children take part in sports from a young age comes with a wealth of mental, social, emotional and educational benefits too – many of which can’t be learnt without tangible experiences. What would learning how to deal with defeat be like without experiencing a loss in a game? How do we increase emotional intelligence without interacting with others? These are all important skills that will shape a child, and more importantly, are critical to helping them navigate through school and life.
This March school holidays, allow your children to discover their love for sports and learn vital life skills with the myriad sport options available at the Singapore Sports Hub. Even if they don’t end up the next Joseph Schooling, this will be one school holiday they will remember for years to come.

Discover a love for fitness and learn how to focus with the Multi Sports Classes
Six kid-friendly sports – soccer, rugby, floorball, basketball, T-ball and tennis – make up the Multi Sports Classes. Each sport will be taught over four weeks, with three weeks of skills acquisition and one week of skills revision and games. This is the best option if your child is still figuring out which sport he or she likes, but loves running about and expending energy anyway. Physical gains aside, the child will also benefit emotionally and socially from the weeks of social interaction with other kids, and learning about teamwork, sportsmanship and focus through the sessions of skills acquisition and gameplay.
