Few places in Singapore evoke nostalgia quite like Kallang.
A historic precinct with a rich legacy, it is home to the Republic’s first airport, the iconic National Stadium, and generations of moments that Singaporeans hold closest to their hearts.
Kallang has been more than a physical location – from National Day Parades to the Kallang waves and roars during the Malaysia Cup days, and hosting global acts like Taylor Swift and BLACKPINK in recent times – it has become synonymous with these memories that have been forged through the years.
Honouring a Storied Legacy
And so, the Singapore Sports Hub was officially renamed The Kallang on November 28 to reflect not just a physical destination but also the feelings, memories and experiences associated with it.
“The Kallang will be Singapore’s excitement epicentre — where community, sport and world-class entertainment come together in one place, and where you feel alive,” said Keith Magnus, The Kallang Group chairman, at the launch.
Through a thoughtful and rigorous process, the rebranding journey was guided by a clear intent: to honour Kallang’s deep-rooted history while shaping a unique identity for its next chapter. The intention was to find the right balance between functionality and sentiment, legacy and future.
Rather than redefining the precinct, it focused on bringing its many assets together under a single, distinctive destination brand — one that reflects both the place itself and the collective experiences it offers.
Celebrating the Icons
While The Kallang was established as the precinct’s unifying name, the names of its key venues — including the iconic National Stadium, Singapore Indoor Stadium, Kallang Tennis Hub, Kallang Football Hub and OCBC Aquatic Centre — were deliberately retained as a nod to their individual histories and the familiarity they hold for Singaporeans.
A key challenge in the rebrand was determining how the precinct could evolve to bear a vision with greater ambition: one that remained rooted in sport and its role as the home of Team Singapore, yet broadened naturally into entertainment, lifestyle and community spaces and experiences.
That ambition is encapsulated in The Kallang’s positioning as a “place of many places”, with spaces and experiences for the community. At its heart, The Kallang is where shared memories are made, and where experiences, big and small, are experienced together.
This philosophy was brought to life immediately upon the unveiling of the new identity.
One Destination, A Multitude of Experiences
Even as the name The Kallang was officially introduced, the precinct was simultaneously playing host to some of the year’s most highly anticipated marquee events, including the BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR <DEADLINE> IN SINGAPORE and Jacky Cheung 60+ Concert Tour 2025 – Singapore. These marquee shows underscored The Kallang’s enduring role as a stage for world-class entertainment, now unified under a master destination identity.
That spirit of community extended beyond the main stage. A one-of-a-kind BLACKPINK-themed fan activation that featured a trio of immersive photo booths inspired by iconic sets from BLACKPINK’s music videos drew thousands of fans eager to capture picture-perfect memories ahead of the concert.
After the concert, The Kallang’s signature egress experiences, led by the venue operations team, ensured smooth and safe crowd movement amongst the concertgoers while keeping spirits high, blasting BLACKPINK and Jacky Cheung’s top hits to give a memorable, festival-like “after-party” send-off.
The entire experience, from start to finish, became a celebration of fandom, community, and shared excitement, reflecting The Kallang’s commitment to putting people at the centre of everything it does.
Putting the Vision into Action
The first major event following the brand refresh was Countdown 2026, which further embodied The Kallang’s commitment across entertainment, lifestyle and community spaces.
The night was headlined by Singapore’s longest fireworks display of the year — a 35-minute spectacle unfolding across four beautifully choreographed chapters over the Kallang Basin including a dedicated 9pm segment to ensure that families with young children could be part of the celebration.
The evening also brought together regional superstars such as SUPER JUNIOR, alongside Cheng Huan and homegrown talents including Benjamin Kheng, Iman Fandi and Tabitha Nauser at the Countdown 2026 Concert at the Stadium Roar. Aside from the main concert venue, multiple free satellite screening spots were made available as part of the vast programming offered across the precinct from OCBC Square to the Water Sports Centre so fans could enjoy and ring in the new year together.

In 2026, The Kallang aims to continue the high - the year kicked off with our familiar favourite: the National Stadium Experience, a community-driven experience which allows one and all to immerse in the iconic dome from within, with a range of activities for the family.
On the sporting front, world-class rugby action will return with the HSBC SVNS Singapore happening from 31 January to 1 February 2026 as well as the now-upgraded WTA 500 Singapore Tennis Open which will take place on 21 to 27 September later this year.
Beyond the major events, athletes continue to train daily across key facilities such as the Kallang Tennis Hub, Kallang Football Hub and Water Sports Centre, with the National Stadium standing proudly as the Home of the Lions.
Together, these moments and spaces ensure The Kallang remains where sporting excellence, community and legacy come together.
The Kallang, once a testament to Singapore’s rich sporting and cultural heritage, will carry these memories forward while stepping boldly into its next chapter.
