National Day Fiesta Goes Online To Bring Singaporeans Together

Like past editions of the National Day Fiesta, which featured different group workouts, games and events, this year’s online activities will have something for the entire family.

Singaporeans have had to adapt to very different lifestyles in the past few months — we’ve relied on technology and our smart devices for food, social activities, entertainment and more. While things may be different, we’re still able to enjoy a wide variety of online activities in the comfort of our homes, from enjoying a sumptuous delivered meal to planning virtual dates.

So when it comes to experiencing an event as big and important as National Day, we can count on technology to make this occasion just as memorable as before.

On the nation’s 55th birthday, prepare for a National Day celebration like no other. The National Day Fiesta is back, and this time, it’s a virtual experience that everyone can participate in no matter where they are.

It’s never too early to start celebrating
In the week leading up to National Day, you can look forward to expressing your love for Singapore and Singapore Sports Hub through fun stickers and filters on social media. Share your excitement and Singapore spirit with your friends, and take perfect selfies with different digital backdrops of the National Stadium.

As the nation celebrates its 55th birthday, get ready for 55 minutes of fun — a segment hosted by Ah Lian, played by Michelle Chong, that will combine an energetic K-Pop and Hip-Hop dance routine, followed by a fun fitness challenge everyone can take part in. Inspired by the #PlankThatSong challenge from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, join Ah Lian, Pornsak, Lee Teng and Royce Lee in attempting to perform a plank while singing a National Day song on Aug 9.  For those who have submitted their videos for the #PlankThatSong challenge, log on to the live show on Aug 9 and you may just see yourself featured together with Ah Lian.

A virtual playground for all

Sweat it out in the fun live workouts from your home.

Much like last year’s National Day Fiesta at Singapore Sports Hub, which featured different group workouts, games and events, this year’s online activities will have something for the entire family. You can also hop on over to the interactive virtual map for more fun and games.

Learn more about the Singapore Sports Hub through an animated bird’s eye view of the area, as well as interesting fun facts about the facilities. There is also the 100PLUS Promenade running game for you to collect gold coins and bottles, virtually. In addition, various sections of the map will reveal different exciting features, including a celebratory birthday video for Singapore Sports Hub and Singapore, and an educational piece on the Sports, Arts and Heritage Trail.

Though this year’s National Day will be a completely different experience, Singaporeans have shown that the Singapore spirit has helped us get through even the toughest times. We may be physically apart but we are stronger together especially with the help of tech and digital platforms. By coming together as one people in celebration, we can truly embody this year’s theme: “Together A Stronger Singapore”.

Head on over to the here to join in the National Day festivities and get ready for a day of fun and excitement.
