FEELING THE FOOTBALL FEVER

FEELING THE FOOTBALL FEVER

Calling All Football Fans — get ready to support your favourite team in a big way at the inaugural Singapore Sports Hub Festival of Football. Most matches including all knock-out stage matches and the final will be screened on a mega 66sqm LED screen at OCBC Square, with football activities, live entertainment and music acts, as well as exclusive promotions and daily prizes, up for grabs, making this the biggest celebration of the beautiful game in Singapore. Soak in the atmosphere in any manner you like, be it on picnic mats with the whole family or as you lounge about on bean bags which will be set up on artifi cial turf at one of the seating zones. To amp up the festivities, happening from 14 June to 30 July, there will be a range of fringe activities including live music by various artists, daily prize giveaways as well as pop-up food and beverage kiosks throughout the period.

Every Day Is Play Day
Besides live football match screenings, the festival will also feature football-themed activities such as 4v4 football tournaments on mini football pitches at the OCBC Square. Form a team of four players and register online, indicating your team’s preferred timeslot. If you do not have a team to play with, just register online and we will pair you up with other football enthusiasts.

Do also look out for a mini football cage at the entrance of OCBC Square — in front of Stadium MRT Exit A — where community football activities will be conducted. Sport Singapore (SportSG) will also be conducting its ActiveSG Football Academy clinics and programmes here.

The Singapore Sports Hub is also thrilled to play host to the 2018 International Champions Cup (ICC) in Singapore for the second year running. Featuring Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain football clubs, the globe-trotting tournament is played at different venues around the world. Singapore will be ICC’s only Asian stop. Fun For The Family

The festival has been designed to be also a family affair, meant for all ages. For example, a series of popular football-centric movies such as Goal, Bend it like Beckham and Escape to Victory will be screened at lunchtime. Free popcorn will be provided to movie-goers on a first-come, first-served basis. Children from ages 7 to 16 can also register to participate in the Junior Playcation, which has been organised in the sporting spirit of the 2018 World Cup as part of the Singapore Sports Hub Festival of Football.

Another main highlight of the festival will happen just before the World Cup Finals. Dance party ‘Glow DanceJam’ encourages participants to move to the rhythm of popular beats with the flags of their favourite team painted on their faces. Dance participants will receive an Experience Sports limited-edition glow-neon fitness T-shirt — while stocks last. Registration is free.
