We may not have four seasons in Singapore, but if you’re a glass-half-full kind of person, that just means that we only need one contingency plan when we plan outdoor activities — for when it rains. If you’re a parent in Singapore, you’re probably aware that the June school holidays are only a month away. Now’s a good time to start stocking up on fun ideas that will keep the kids occupied. Make the most of the school holidays by indulging in these outdoor and indoor activities as a family.
Sun’s out, fun’s out
What are your family’s favourite activities? At Singapore Sports Hub, you can learn how to play new games, take beautiful photos and treat your family to a variety of cuisines.

Enjoy aquatic fun
After you’ve worked up a sweat, cool off at Splash-N-Surf. Not many malls have an outdoor water park on their roofs. Kallang Wave Mall does, and it’s accessible by the entrance near Gate 22 along the 100PLUS Promenade. At Splash-N-Surf, you can beat the heat and have a whale of a time with the little ones on water slides and swings. Don’t forget the sunblock!

Snap photos at scenic spots
If you’re just looking for a chill day out, there’s no shortage of scenic spots around the Singapore Sports Hub where you can while the day away and snap Instagram-worthy photos. If you’re keen on upping your OOTD game, use the National Stadium’s stunning dome or its LED roof as the backdrop for your outfit shots. Getting all the kids to smile at the same time might be tiring, so when you need to refuel, pop over to Kallang Wave Mall, where you can dine and relax in air-conditioned comfort. There’s something for everyone here, including kid-friendly options like Poulet, Old Town White Coffee and Chocolate Origin.

The indoors don’t have to be boring
An unexpected bout of rain can really put a damper on things, but that doesn’t always have to be the case. With the innumerable indoor experiences offered at Singapore Sports Hub, nothing can rain on your parade. Here, you’re welcome to indulge in a spread of engaging indoor activities, and many of them are kid-friendly.
Run around our iconic stadium
For starters, enjoying a nice run is always possible at the 100PLUS Promenade, an 888-metre running track that’s fully sheltered and open 24/7. The whole family can race one another on the track — perhaps the prize for the winner can be a toy from Kallang Wave Mall? You and your loved ones will like Kallang Leisure Park too, where families can go ice skating or bowling.
Wander through the history of cycling
Cycling has become a popular pandemic hobby, but if you’ve had to take a rain check on your cycling trip because of the weather, why not take this time to learn about the ins and outs of how bicycles work? You can book a free guided tour at Shimano Cycling World. Lasting 30 to 45 minutes, this tour brings visitors deep into the world of bicycles through a compendium of interactive exhibits. Tours are limited to 25 pax, and participants have to be in groups of eight, while maintaining a one-metre distance between each sub-group.

Explore the Sports Hub Library
Outings can be fun and educational too, especially when you visit the Sports Hub Library. A treasure trove of knowledge, this is not your usual library. You and your family will be compelled by its viewing stations, virtual sports stations, giant chess and checkers, and exhilarating kids zone. This library hosts new and multifaceted events regularly, so keep checking back!
Discover our sporting heritage
The fitness enthusiast family will love learning about Singapore’s rich sporting history in the Singapore Sports Museum. Located at the West Entrance of the National Stadium, Singapore’s first sports-themed museum will captivate you with facts and memorabilia spread out across six galleries. These galleries shed light on the past, present and future of Singapore’s Olympic and non-Olympic sports. Take a look back at the momentous 2016 Olympic Games, which was when Joseph Schooling set a new record for the Men’s 100-metre Butterfly sprint. In this museum, you can also discover traditional and indigenous games, and learn about local athletes who have been inducted into the Singapore Sport Hall of Fame.
