Get ready for some nifty flicks and athletic smashes! Catch the rising stars of Singapore badminton at the sixth edition of Singapore Badminton Association’s annual marquee event, the Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships.

From 18 to 24 February 2024 (excluding 19 February 2024), fans will be able to witness the nation’s finest shuttlers duke it out  at Singapore Sports Hub’s OCBC Arena.

As the only Tier-1 competition on the Singapore Badminton Association’s calendar, the National Open Championships awards the highest-ranking points in the National Ranking System. This year, the spotlight will be on five events –  namely the Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men's Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

Some of the stars that have graced previous editions of the tournament include former men’s singles world champion Loh Kean Yew and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Tan Wei Han.

The National Open Championships will be played in a single knock-out format for all events through a best-of-three showdown to progress through the brackets with a prize purse of $13,000 up for grabs.

With the high-quality competition, the tournament hopes to promote the sport by bringing the badminton community together and to also inspire non-players to try their hand at it.,

Following the establishment of the National Ranking System and sanction tournaments with ranking points across the year, registration regulations will be updated starting from this year’s National Open Championships. Entry to subsequent tournaments will depend on the national ranking points of the respective players, instead of the open first-come-first-served basis adopted by previous editions.

This initiative will elevate the standard of competition within the local badminton fraternity, and also inspire young shuttlers to strive towards qualification for the next National Open Championships.

With a capacity of 3,000, the OCBC Arena at the Singapore Sport Hub serves as the perfect setup for the tournament. Optimised for elite athletes' requirements and training, the venue features six halls that also allow simultaneous usage for a variety of purposes.

Get ready to witness the smashing action at the Singapore Sports Hub National Open Championships 2024! Admission to all days of the tournament is free.
